Creating Opportunities, Realising Potential

Tollbar Family of Academies is a unique Multi Academy Trust led by experienced educationalists responsible for one of the largest and most successful schools in the country. Tollbar Family of Academies aims to offer a world-class, 21st century education to the young people in all its Academies, providing life-long learning opportunities and creating centres of excellence, which model the successful practices at Tollbar Academy, bringing confidence and pride to the local community.

It is a learning community, run by a team who have proved their worth by maintaining their own outstanding outcomes for the 2,200 students at Tollbar Academy, while mentoring six further Academies, Primary and Secondary, and taking two of these from 'Special Measures' and 'Requires Improvement' to 'Good' in a short space of time.

Such is their success, that Tollbar Academy has not only been rated 'Outstanding' on three consecutive occasions by Ofsted over a period of nine years, but it is also designated as one of the UK's high-performing schools.

In 2010, Tollbar Academy sponsored Cleethorpes Academy, confirming its elite status as a high-performing school ready and willing to share its success with others. The former Lindsey Community Arts College was in 'Special Measures' when it reopened as Cleethorpes Academy. As a fresh start Academy, it attracted national interest for its unrivalled transformation. It was designated 'Good' by Ofsted in 2015.

It was this success that led Governors at Tollbar, with the full support of the Department for Education, to form its own Multi Academy Trust. The Trust was constituted in May 2012.

In 2013, Reynolds Primary Academy became a member of Tollbar MAT and, with an injection of outstanding teaching staff from Tollbar Academy and investment in resources, the Academy was designated 'Good' By Ofsted in 2015.

In November 2015, the former Birkbeck College, which was also in 'Special Measures,' was granted Academy status, joining Tollbar MAT and reopening as Somercotes Academy in November 2015. The Academy has seen a 22% increase in students in its first few months and has benefitted from 22 outstanding teachers recruited from within Tollbar MAT, whose proven track record is already making a significant difference to teaching and learning. The MAT has also invested more than £500,000 in new facilities and resources to provide an outstanding learning environment for the students.

In September 2016 Theddlethorpe Community Primary School became part of the Tollbar MAT. Renamed as Theddlethorpe Academy it will benefit from the expertise offered to all Academies within the MAT.

Tollbar Family of Academies is now offering others the opportunity to join in its success, to share good practice, and to work together to help those less able than itself to succeed alongside it.
