Louth Academy Year 9 Team Victorious In TMAT Rounders Tournament

The Year 9 and 10 Rounders Teams who took part in the TMAT Rounders Tournament. (L-r): Somercotes Academy, Cleethorpes Academy, Louth Academy and Tollbar Academy.

The standard was very high when the four Tollbar Multi Academy Trust Secondary Academies met on the field for a Year 9 and 10 Rounders Tournament, held at Somercotes Academy.

The Year 9 Louth Academy Team narrowly defeated Somercotes to became champions in a very close final, and the Year 10 final was a draw between Cleethorpes Academy and Somercotes Academy.

Somercotes Academy Curriculum Leader for P.E., Chris Prendergast, who organised the tournament, said: "The standard of rounders was very high and it was a pleasure to organise such a positive event for Tollbar MAT."

Darren Huart, Curriculum Leader for P.E. at Louth Academy, said: "Both Louth Academy teams showed moments of real quality throughout. They conducted themselves impeccably and did the Academy proud. The Year 9 team in particular did an amazing job to end the evening as overall winners in their age group."

Simon Blewitt, Curriculum Leader for P.E. at Cleethorpes Academy, said: "This was a really competitive tournament on a warm day and the students responded extremely well to the challenge."
