Tollbar Multi Academy Trust has appointed Frances Green as the new Principal of Somercotes Academy. Frances will take over the role from current Principal Caroline Yates in September 2018.

Somercotes Academy became a member of the Trust just three years ago. In that time, student outcomes in GCSE examinations have continuously improved and the site has been totally refurbished. Caroline Yates has been promoted to Principal of Tollbar Academy on the back of her outstanding leadership at Somercotes. She will take up her new position in September.

Frances Green plans to build on the continued improvements at the academy and brings with her a wealth of teaching and leadership experience. She is currently a Vice Principal and Special Needs Coordinator at Tollbar Academy. She was educated in Louth and read English at Oxford University where she went on to complete her teacher training.

Frances initially taught English in Oxfordshire before returning to Louth as Head of English at Cordeaux High School. She progressed to Assistant Vice Principal and then acting Vice Principal, as well as being the Academy SENCO.

Designated a Specialist Leader of Education in 2014, Frances supported schools across the region with Literacy and Curriculum Development, and she also trained as a London Leadership Strategy SEN Leader in 2015.

Speaking of her appointment as the new Principal of Somercotes Academy, she said: "I believe that combining my wide-ranging experience of school leadership and my experience and understanding of the outstanding Tollbar philosophy and approach will enable me to work with the MAT to build upon the strong foundations that it has laid at Somercotes Academy, continuing the drive to offer a world-class education to the young people it serves."

David Hampson, Chief Executive of Tollbar Multi Academy Trust, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to recruit such an outstanding Principal to continue the progress at Somercotes Academy. Frances has a wealth of leadership experience and is totally committed to the philosophy of the MAT in ensuring every child receives an excellent education."
